I can't play movies

Postby Unleashed90876 » Thu May 07, 2009 2:23 pm

So Iv downloaded quite a few movies from thepiratebay.org and I used to have a good time watching them. I watch them on windows media player and recently all I can get is the sounds and no picture. I have tried playing them with suposedly updated versions of quicktime and realplayer and those dont work at all. Windows media player still works though because I can still watch porn that I stream directly from a site on it thank god. Also when it is trying to play the movie it says aquiring codec and codec aquired. It also says window media player is unable to read the extension .mov and it is unsure if the file is safe which I think it used to say before.

Iv tried deleting window media player so I could reinstall but it wont let me. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

You don't have the right codec. WMP "acquiring" the codec never fucking works. Try codec packs. If all else fails, use VLC.

Why would one use anything BUT VLC to view movies, anyways?

I've encountered weird bugs on older systems where VLC would run choppy and/or desync everything, whereas MPC would run the same files just fine.

I tried to use VLC to play my wii through a tv tuner card and it made distorted the color something fierce.

Thanks VLC works great. Although about 1/3 of my movies are broken up into 30 little packets having been compressed by Winrar without my knowledge and are unwatchable. Or maybe the were unwatchable before Winrar did anything I don't know. But I deleted Winrar and havn't had any problem since.
