Hero Selection

I'm testing out whether YouTube's HD videos are any good and how long they take to process (bloody long, apparently). The higher resolutions aren't done yet, but you can see it now in all its low-resolution glory!

Nice. However, it bothers me that you can see the souls of the characters' feet in the preview (picky, I know). Maybe edit the angle a bit? Also, the Blood Meters look a bit large.

Nope, that's intentional. You have to view the units from slightly below to avoid seeing gigantic hero glow planes everywhere. Luckily Blizzard made them all single-sided, otherwise the whole method would be borked. However, I have not yet checked whether I can retain rotation while billboarding the hero's angle. If I can, I'll probably be able to get a perfect facing on the hero that still avoids glow.

I think the Blood Meter is fine when there isn't a 6-hero pileup.

I love the fact that the Pirate's name is Ulysses.
I know the pieces fit, 'cause I watched them tumble down.
No fault, none to blame; it doesn't mean I don't desire
To point the finger, blame the other, watch the temple topple over
To bring the pieces back together, rediscover communication.

He has a bunch of names: Ulysses, Captain Morgan, The Dread Pirate Roberts, Niels, and his "canon" name is Silas.

Damn, that's smooth.
The blood flowing behind, models rotating, icons showing, font not blurry...
That Witch Doctor icon is sick.

Does one player decide the game mode at start?

Red by default or green if you check any of the game flags.

It's whichever player on team 2 has the lowest player number, so green -> pink -> gray etc.

Are these the guys we'll see in the first O release?

Will there still be blood resource, cause I see the lumber icon there?

You're Youtube channel's name is Aeon of Blood. I recall that was the possible name if you moved ToB to SC2. Would that be a confirmation of this move?

A bit early to tell ain't it?

EDIT: I completely forgot to praise the awesome model selection screen. Can't wait to see it in HD.

I think it's as HD as it's going to get outside of the actual game. Guess I should've uploaded the raw fraps avi.

Yes and yes. Blood is still a resource--it's measured by the bar under the hero now.

AoB will be a new map, but sure, we have every expectation of moving to another engine, possibly SC2. O is going to be released for WC3 first though.

The processing was done 12 hours ago, you can watch it in HD on youtube, just not when it's embedded. It looks sweet.

I'm still not a huge fan of the blood meter, it's so large! I'll have to see how it plays out when you're actually playing a game, but an option to change its size would be nice regardless.

Yes, I'm talking about it only hitting 720p. 720p is basically what I recorded it at, but it looks vastly better on my drive than it does on YouTube. I thought perhaps they'd include a 1080p option that looks as good as the video I uploaded.

I can actually shrink the Blood Meter quite easily. I built alternate sizes into it from the get-go because different units have different scaling sizes, and attachments are scaled as well. When you don't have a bunch of heroes on top of each other though I like the current size. If it really bothers a bunch of people after you actually play it I'll change the required animation names for the heroes.

I'll wait to play it before I pass judgment, but remember ToB can become a clusterfuck at its peak.

Unless you control a hero you can't see its meter.

I'd buy SC2 to play ToB more than to play actual SC2.

This. Also so I can legally create maps.
