Time stop

Postby InitialD » Tue Aug 29, 2006 12:09 am

I am wondering if it is possible to make a time stop spell in wc3 which makes every animation stops. Is it possible to make projectiles stop in the air? Or Musashi stops in the air while jumping?etc..

Kaz, to save even more space you could convert your answer into a binary array of boolean values. :>

I have no idea how, but there is a spell in dota that does that. The Faceless' ulti chronosphere or w/e its called. Works pretty well and looks cool. Check it out.

You can't stop in-flight projectiles unless they're triggered, otherwise the rest is possible. Better this way?

Is it possible to trigger projectiles then? The time stop in DotA just doesn't include everything. Many things are still moving in time stop.
Kaz do you mean the flowing water in the fountain could also be stopped? Futher more the water currents etc...

Yes it is but it's not worth it if it's only for your time stop thing.

You can set the animation speed of everything in the area to 0% or 0.01 or whatever and it will effectively stop their animation. This won't work on doodads.

Trust him about the projectile thing; it'd be a pain to setup not to mention triggering damage detection, missing, criticals and all that other shit. Be way too much just to make one spell seem 100% realistic.

Did InitialD get more literate at some point?

Technically, you can. But that would be running so many timers in the background, it's kinda scary to think about. No way worth it just for some sort of time-stop spell.

edit: although, it would make attack detection REDICULOUSLY easy.

Think of the score screen..

Remember Guinsoo's DotA with sand king having a sand trail, spawning dummies and only affection one side? Meaning if you picked/randomed him on the wrong side and you took it, the skill actually hurt yourself. The end score screen was all messed up too.
Hilarity.

all you need is to
