Election Topic.

Postby Mur » Tue May 11, 2010 1:17 pm

So, I haven't bothered coming to discuss you with you guys as I know I'm the only Brit here, but thought I may as well make a topic as it now looks like it's finally over.

The one lesson to be learnt from this horrible election is that the system needs reform.

Britain is now looking at a lib dem/tory cabinet, despite the fact that lib dems got much fewer seats than labour. This archaic system has only resulted in backstabbings and dealings behind closed doors. I don't believe the public are getting what they voted for.

Bottom fucking line is, most Lib Dem supporters voted for Clegg because, in the eventuality of a hung parliament, they wanted a pact with Labour. Clegg has betrayed his voters and held the door open for the blue team. It's absurd that the party who only got 57 seats ended up deciding who was in power.

But hey, maybe I'm just being a butthurt anti-tory.

Tl:DR Tories are back in town, thanks to Nick Clegg backstabbing his voters. Hold onto the milk kiddies, and lets get ready for some big fat cuts. But hey, thank god the rich bastards don't have to pay inheritance tax.

Fact of the matter. No election can ever be completely fair. It's only normal, that you are disappointed. Also keep in mind that politicians, are there to gain power, mostly. Again, I'm not acquainted with English parliament, but they probably calculated they couldn't get better results in re-elections.

Ignoring the above post, it is pretty funny that there is no clear deal breaker for a hung parliament. But can't the Queen ask one party to step up in this instance?

Also: Brown's gaffe's have been FABulous
a particle is a thing in itself. a wave is a disturbance in something else. waves themselves are probably not disturbed.

I think there was some kind of extreme loophole where yeah, the Queen can get involved if there isn't something sorted out within X days. One of the very few occasions where she actually does anything with politics.

No election can ever be completely fair.

The difference here is, the Lib Dems are a left wing party, and the Tories are right wing. Clegg has betrayed his voters. Not just in a "Oh yeah, tax went up when I said it wouldnt" way, that always happens, but in a "Oh yeah, I'm actually now swinging for the rightwing."

Brown's gaffes? The woman was a bigot. The funniest thing is, despite the media spin, Brown's popularity actually rose after the bigot comment. The British people are just so shallow these days that they want to see a "personality" in number 10, rather than an actual politician. Because "omg politicians are liars"

I'd agree that a re-election wouldn't do much. I want a reform of the system. Mainly because my vote is totally wasted and it always is a bit upsetting to know that your vote doesn't actually count for shit. (I live in a constituency that is 53% Conservative and will be for a very long time.)

Fuck it, there's no point bitching now. In a few years they'll remember why they hate the Tories so much and we'll be back to labour again. Hopefully. (£6bn worth of cuts planned already)
