On a totally random but somewhat related topic, everyone should read the first volume of Foucault's History of Sexuality. His argument for how much modern sexuality owes to religious practices is both compelling and hilarious.

Should we stop holding back our naturally evolved urges to propagate?

Every time I try to get through Foucault I feel like he's just so full of shit. I suspect that the language he uses is couched in traditions of analysis that I simply don't have the groundwork to understand.

With a priest instead of the center egg, and little deaf kids instead of the other ones.

lawlz, if the center egg is the priest, where is the bishop covering up his ass the whole time.

oh right, isn't the android called Bishop? And in the first part he's evil corp in the know and wantonly has the unwitting group infected, caring more about the culprits than the victims.

Holy shit, talk about prophecy!

HaHaHa, dude, what have you done, now think about part two, you know what Bishop says to Sigourney when she's all hateful, mistrusting, retaliatory? He says something like "I sympathize with you, but you must realize it wasn't me, it was a different, flawed model from another time."

So is it "Abgefickt und volgepisst" or "Abgefickt und volgepißt"?

But on a more serious note, you know what pisses me off most right now. The argumentative ineptitude of the public when confronted with the experienced rhetoric of the church, that's the one thing they are good at.

Right now, their most important argumentative pillar is saying over and over again this:

"This problem is not specific to the church, it happens everywhere"

coupled with "thus it has nothing to do with our sexual morality" and "the liberal sexual revolution of 60/70 is really to blame; now it eats its own kids." and concluding to "we don't need to adapt, and you have no right meddling in our affairs, you are infringing our free way of life"

This is basically their whole defense and their last straw, and they just say it at every occasion like it was one of their litanies. And they manage to somehow get off the hook in conversations, because the interviewers and talkshows can't handle it.

They have luck they don't have to face us. The first thing I'd reply to "This problem is not specific to the church, it happens everywhere" is: Oh, so the church is like everywhere else after all! And here I thought the church was special, that it would deserve its extraordinary status and trust and benefits and competitive advantages, because they'd not be like everywhere else.

I'd lay back and watch his face turn pale, as his lame defense backfired into a backbreaking fundamental question. And then, to "thus it has nothing to do with our sexual morality", I'd go: You mean the one you've never really obliged to yourself? And yet have made a pain in the ass to everyone, the way your people were a pain in the ass to those kids?

By now, his face turned red, he'd stutter and gasp for breath, while I'd stomp all over "you have no right meddling in our affairs, you are infringing our free way of life": Like the way your people infringed on those helpless kid's way of life? Now we wouldn't want that, would we! No, contrary to them, you get to cry to everyone's notice and hide behind your rights and money, while we touch on all those parts you don't want us to touch.

But sadly, they are not brought to us for judgment, they are rather given platform to keep some doubters on the long line, than have them convincingly put to justice.

Oh, my bad. It's late.

I keep forgetting the rules for ß, and to add to the confusion, not everyone uses the same ruleset. :(

Even more distrubing is when you hear someone actually defend the church in what RAV pointed out above and in some cases the acts themselves. So many people blind and brainwashed by their 'faith', it fuckin sickens me.

I also recommend reading The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins as it points out how people have a need to fill gaps and raises questions as to why religious organizations are given free passes.

I don't think anyone on this forum can't figure out for themselves why religion is completely retarded.

Isn't there another thread with a discussion about Dawkins? If I had a mouse I would dig it up and link it for the new kid, but I really hate this touchpad.

While I agree with you, perhaps this thread will be read by people who aren't of this forum.
