Hrrm, this new generation of graphics cards is nice. I'm thinking about buying a new one in the next three months or so. It's the jump in vram for little money that interests me most. The currently cheapest way to get 8gb vram is the Radeon 470. Well, I'm very particular in what I'm looking for. Not saying this is the best recommendation for anyone's gaming. But I do think it's a nice value card anyway.
Still, not sure 8gb make actual sense for me. I didn't get to test Blackbox on a computer with even just 6gb or 4gb so far. If it turns out 6gb is the most stable and sensible limit so far, I'd probably go for the Geforce 1060. But if it's even lower at 4gb, it's the Radeon 470 again at that loadout, just for total price savings on latest tech. Though, within three months Nvidea's 1050 should be out, so you never know.
The 470 is such a strange card, for how close it is in price and performance to the 480, and the massive gap that creates to the 460. They kinda mucked that up. It's probably an insecure response to the 1060, because they weren't sure they are offering altogether enough value in the 480 to compete directly, so they placed the 470 close to undercut it. Nvidea gotta respond to that somehow, maybe with a higher TI version of the 1050. But this fierce fighting in the middle is creating a strange gap right now in the lower budget segment. Anyway, competition is good! AMD can't really keep up, but at least they keep pressuring.
Nvidea and Intel are pretty badass but also proven ruthless. It's within their right, but god knows what would happen if we truly were only at their mercy. Almost makes me choose AMD just for balancing market politics. AMD has done a lot of nice things for pushing open standards. Well, I guess, for as long as you are the underdog, at least you would do well to have a Mr. Nice guy image.
But honestly, if I had the money I'd buy a 1080 done deal. because fuck ya'll bitches. POWAaaah.
Nein, nein, nein! Do not be so little! When I say answer it, I mean respond to it, to Them.
