A sports thread

Postby harveymudd » Tue Apr 07, 2009 8:56 pm

Been a while since one of these cropped up. Sticking to basketball and baseball here. I'm going to list my favorites.

Lakers win the championship.

I love the Dodgers, but I think the Mets will win it all this year if they can get over their mental obstacles.

Sports are gay.
a particle is a thing in itself. a wave is a disturbance in something else. waves themselves are probably not disturbed.

Except fighting...which, oddly enough, has a very strong gay following thanks to all the man-humping.

I'm with ya here, Harvey.

I want to see the Lakers win but I have a feeling that Cleveland will take it this year.

Baseball... it's too early to really pick a favorite. Boston and Tampa are pretty solid choices. A lot of analysts are saying the Cubs but I just don't know if I could go along with that. I don't think the Mets will even win the division let alone the World Series.

For right now, I'll be happy to just see the Yankees struggle.

Bears got the awesome quarterback from Denver, princess that he is.

Now if only we could have a stronger offensive line. And a defense ten years younger than it is.

Cubs are overrated choke artists. The Mets however are probably going to be the best team in the NL this year now that they have a sick bullpen. If anyone catches them in the division it's probably the Marlins. The Phillies already suspect rotation minus Hamels = absence from playoffs this year.

As far as the cavs are concerned, they have a tough road to go through with the playoffs. They have to go through orlando/boston to get to the finals. As much as I hate to say it, the emergence of three really strong teams in the east make them the tougher conference PLAYOFF wise not regular season wise, whereas the lakers have to deal with young or dismantled teams. The spurs just lost ginobli and that's a huge spark for their team.

I see the Lakers going to the finals and winning against boston in seven, orlando in seven, or cavs in six.

If by hippie you mean a vampire lumberjack from Minsk and by accidentally you mean on purpose, yes. I can tell this Sar person can't take a hit just by looking at his jaw line.

I'm sure a lot of people here hate it, but the Masters is the most sports I've watched in the past month.

April is here and the playoffs (actual relevant basketball) can begin. Simply put the west is still the best. I hope bron bron makes it, so he can get swept again by the varsity teams. Let him have the MVP, it's easy to put up numbers against scrubs. Enjoy playing a sub .500 8th seed.

Baseball is worse than basketball, 162 games come on. Call me in the fall when games start to actually matter. Also, lolindans.

Meh, I have no hatred towards Everton. I never got the whole-we-must-be-rivals thing. Both scouse teams, after all.

But they don't have anywhere near the spirit Liverpool do. You only have to see how many goals Liverpool have scored in 90+ minuted this season. Only the reds have that never say die attitude.

Incidently, this week was the 20th anniversary of Hillsborough. Nothing like a YNWA followed by a minute's silence to make you feel all emotional.
